Zeugnis

Ich stoße bei meiner Aufräumaktion auf Zeitungsausschnitte, die ich alle als irgendwie wertvoll für mich und mein Bild von der Welt betrachtet hatte. Ich habe sie aufbewahrt und dadurch durch die Zeitläufte hindurch indirekt einiges über meine Motivation damals erfahren, weiß jetzt, dass ich den falschen Leuten geglaubt habe, bin damals zu gerne ihrer Einschätzung, ihrem Wehen im Wind des Zeitgeists aufgesessen. Es geht jetzt um die soziale Durchlässigkeit, um die Möglichkeit des Auf- oder Abstiegs, das mich höchstens theoretisch bewegt hat, unter anderem in einem Studium. Es geht um das Wort „Unterschicht“, das wohl so ungern in den Mund genommen wurde und das heutzutage mit allerlei technokratischen Ausdrücken umschrieben wird. Es geht um oben und unten, drinnen und draußen. Bis zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt scheinen die „feinen Unterschiede“ gepriesen worden zu sein, in Veröffentlichungen, Analysen, Verlautbarungen. Es muss dies wohl einigermaßen direkt (heute würde man das als „disruptiv“ benennen) in eine Betrachtung des groben Unterschieds in Unten und Oben übergegangen sein, eine neue Betrachtung der sozialen Unterschiede, die die herabsetzende und verächtlich machende Bedeutung des Wortes ganz bewusst in Kauf nimmt und sie genauer betrachten will. Die Welt der Reichen und Superreichen, die InfluencInnen und Lamborghini-FahrerInnen, die uns mittlerweile täglich vorgeführt wird, war darin noch gar nicht vorgekommen und somit auch nicht aufgenommen. Eine „abgestumpfte Gleichförmigkeit“ treibe diese Unterschichtler an, mangelndes Bewusstsein dafür, was „das Leben“ einem bieten könne, wenn man nur wolle, so die Analyse. Lebensrisiken wie Arbeitslosigkeit, Alter, Krankheit könnten je nach Status und Position durch Bildung besser bewältigt werden. Es geht darum, an der Welt der Möglichkeiten teilzuhaben. Wie? Durch Bildung, - so hieß es. Wir glaubten das, irgendwie. „Selbständige Lebensführung“ und „Selbstoptimierung“ sind aber mittlerweile Werte, die deutlich mehr gefragt sind. Jeder sei seines Glückes Schmid, so heißt es heutzutage gerne den Neoliberalismus in seiner reinsten Form in sich aufnehmend. „American way of life“, gilt das noch? Vom Tellerwäscher zum Millionär? Ob das die Karotte ist, die dem Esel vor die Nase gehalten wird? Migration, Klima und „Wachstum“ sind inzwischen noch als oft umlaberte Problemherde dazu gekommen. Ob es noch eine „Zugehörigkeit für alle“ gibt? When I'm cleaning up, I come across newspaper clippings, all of which I considered valuable in some way for me and my view of the world. I kept them and through the course of time indirectly learned something about my motivation back then, now I know that I believed the wrong people, I was too happy to be taken in by their assessment, their blowing in the wind of the zeitgeist. It's now about social permeability, about the possibility of promotion or relegation, which only moved me theoretically, among other things in a course of study. It's about the word "lower class", which was probably so reluctantly used and which is nowadays described with all sorts of technocratic expressions. It's about up and down, inside and outside. Up to a point, the "subtle differences" seem to have been extolled, in publications, analyses, pronouncements. This must have passed fairly directly (today this would be called "disruptive") into a consideration of the gross difference between below and above, a new consideration of social differences that quite consciously accepts the derogatory and contemptuous meaning of the word takes and wants to take a closer look at them. The world of the rich and super-rich, the influencers and Lamborghini drivers, which is now being shown to us every day, had not yet appeared in it and was therefore not included. According to the analysis, a “jaded uniformity” drives these lower classes, a lack of awareness of what “life” can offer you if you really want to. Depending on one's status and position, life risks such as unemployment, old age and illness could be better managed through education. It's about being part of the world of possibilities. How? Through education, - so it was said. We kind of believed that. However, “independent living” and “self-optimization” are now values that are much more in demand. Everyone is lucky, that's what people like to say nowadays, absorbing neoliberalism in its purest form. "American way of life", is that still true? From rags to riches? Is that the carrot being held in front of the donkey's nose? Migration, climate and "growth" have now been added as trouble spots that are often talked about. Is there still a "belonging for all"?
